About the Artist: Collection 1 / Kate Iverson

Kate Iverson's art was the initial inspiration that brought Alice Riot co-founders Kate and Kelly together as business partners. Kelly saw an Instagram post featuring Kate's Riot No. 2 painting and said "I want that on a skirt!"...and the rest is history.
Fabric prints created with three of Kate's abstract paintings are the core of the inaugural line. Each painting, while ultimately unique, follows a cohesive design thread of gestural brushstrokes, structured lines and layered elements.
Kate is a painter and mixed media artist living and working in Minneapolis, MN. She has exhibited locally and nationally, often focusing on the parallels between nature and design. Kate’s work tells vibrant yet thoughtful color stories that move between flat and dimensional objects. She has worked in multiple mediums including acrylic, tempera, watercolor, charcoal, spray paint, washi tape, photography and more, often mixing mediums and even collaborating with other artists in the process.
In addition to being an artist, Kate is also co-founder and current board chair of award-winning art space, Public Functionary, and makes her living as a copywriter for local, national, and global brands and organizations. She has won numerous accolades for her work in arts and media, including a coveted slot on the Business Journal’s 2011 “40 Under Forty” list; nods in the Twin Cities Business Magazine’s “200 Minnesotan’s You Should Know” issue, Minnesota Monthly's "Power" issue and more.
